History of Nevada

Incorporated as the 36th state within the American constitution,the History of Nevada is one of the most fascinating facets of the state know how. An inland state in the western part of the country Nevada is fed by the Colorado river. Just like any other country or state's historical facts History of Nevada is distinctly divided into stages starting with its early discovery to it recent and more modern social and economic history.


The Early discovery of Nevada: At the turn of the 18th century during the latter part of 17th century Nevada came into existence with the famous Father Kino expeditions through north Mexico and south United States. In 1821 Nevada became a part of the First Mexican Empire under the regimeof Agustin de Iturbide. The most significant turn in the History of Nevada happened during the Mexican-American War of 1846-48 when through the Guadalupe-Hidalgo Treaty, Nevada was incorporated into the United States.

Nevada's existence as a separate state: Previously a part of the state of Utah, Nevada became a separate state just before the presidential elections of 1864. The state achieved its current geographical boundaries on May 5, 1866.



Economic History of Nevada: one of the most crucial parts of the Nevada History is the state's economic roots. A place rich with silver and gold deposits Nevada mines also resource a whole lot of other important minerals. With the discovery of Comstock Lode, a rich treasure trove of gold and silver there was a new economic reform surrounding the state. This discovery led to the advent of a host of population which constituted mainly of miners, prospectors, merchants and others looking for more opulence. In 1950, following the Cold War between the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics ,the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission chose Nevada as a site to test and develop nuclear weapons in the 1950s constituting one of the important phases of both social and economic History of Nevada. The Great Depression of the early 20th century is also an important event in the History of Nevada following which gambling was made legalized in Las Vegas as a prop to boost up the economy of the state.
